Miles this week: 4.61

How I felt: Monday started off great till I went into my cool down. My right calf seemed to cramp at the end. I think it ended up being a strain. I did not end up running Tuesday or Thursday because I was rehabbing.

Results: So for running not a good week. I still walked most days and worked through that. In a moment of reflection this injury is ok. It was not major but it is also a reminder to make sure I keep myself in tune all around. I have been talking about massage therapy and also looking into assisted stretching. I was able to get into a massage therapist this week and that was so good, no enjoyable, but good for me. This actions will help my running, reduce injury and help me in general. It is like the old show The Facts of Life, “You take the good, you take the bad and there you have the facts of life”

As for my training partners they seemed a bit upset with me on Saturday. I have a silent alarm on my watch for 5 AM. Normally the dogs jump right out of bed with me. On Saturday though, I made the decision to sleep in. It had been along week and I knew my run was only about 20 minutes, plus it was weekend so I had time to spare. Well my training partners did not agree with my logic. Their little bodies and brains are accustomed to getting up at 5AM and heading out the door in short order. My decision to not follow our regimen of training caused them be onery. Pebbles attempted to get my up by licking my face repeatedly. I avoided this by pulling the blanket over my head. Pepper chose the option of pawing at me from the carpet. I was also able to ignore her half hearted attempt. However, they were not to be outmatched. Their next step was combining forces by play fighting in the bedroom. This is a normal morning ritual but later in the morning. There was a bit of gnashing of teeth, barking and lots of running around. Some of the running included through the bed and over me. I stayed strong and ignored all their attempts. Finally, my willpower for sleep overcame their attempt to get me up and we all slept in till 7. Also if you are wondering why Sonja did not beat me to get up over this, it is because she felt bad in the night and went to the couch. Otherwise I would have had to get up at 5 AM.
